Start taking monthly pictures of Dagny before I blink and she’s 16-years-old.
A totally nostalgic Mom who already has 769 pictures of her one-week-old baby.
I slept on my stomach last night and it was glorious - probably one of the Top 3 things I missed being able to do while I was pregnant (followed by champagne and hot yoga). I also showered, brushed my teeth, and got myself together for the first time since being home. I know #WelcomeToParenthood, but, really, it’s not been about not having time or being too tired to do those things, it’s really been more that I haven’t cared to. I’ve just enjoyed being home and comfortable and in sweat pants. But a girl’s gotta put on a pair of really (maternity) pants every now and then.
Today Dagny had her first doctor’s appointment since being released from the NICU (I say that like she was in jail or something). We found out that she gained four ounces in the few days she’s been home with us! I was thrilled (1) she had gained weight and (2) I had not failed her as a mom in the few days she had been home without Super Nurse supervision.
To celebrate all of these wins, I decided I needed to take Dagny’s first monthly picture at her close-to-newborn weight.
Here she is. All 17-3/4 inches and 4-pounds-5-ounces of her.
Her favorite things right now are eating and sleeping and crying when she needs either of those things (though I’ll be honest in that she’s not much of a cryer).
She hates getting strapped in her car seat and we’re worried we’re going to crush her every time. Her premie clothes are still too big for her. She sleeps through everything except the night.
She smiles a lot and pouches up her lips when she’s done eating (hence her nickname of Lil’ Pouchy and all of the songs we’ve written about her).
She is sleeping about three hours at a time and seems to have an affinity for being awake and checking out the world at 3:00am.
We love you more than words little nugget - even when you make me so tired I carry around my hair brush for five minutes for no reason at all.
